Disappearing Messages

I've just noticed that several messages from the same person have disappeared from my inbox. They were there a few hours ago. How/why did this happen? Inbox is nowhere near full either. Thanks.

I was just about to ask something similar when I noticed your thread. Anyone know how long a message stays on the system unread? I sent a message to an occasional contact a while ago and it was showing unread in my sent folder because the lady hadn't logged in for a spell. She still hasn't, but the message vanished. Does that mean it's timed out?

Ive had that happen last week too dose that meen the other person can't see them aswell.
