Profile says not looking for single men but am

HI, I've been trying to change the preferences on my profile to reflect that I am looking for single men but my profile keeps saying I'm not. This means I am not getting messages from single men. Before anyone advises the obvious by going into account and changing the preferences there. That's what I did ion the first place and now it wont change back. I have been trying to a few weeks to rectify this. Please help.
