Unable to change username

Tried several times over a few days, it just keeps telling me the one I'm trying is too short, though I've tried loads upto about 18 characters, so I know that's not the case...

How can I change it?

You have to be a Site Supporter to be allowed to change your username.

This issue is with the mobile site (all I ever use) - tried on the desktop site and it did the same initially but then showed a second text box for the username, the only one it was showing was to confirm, so it must have read the missing first Field as empty
