Auto deleting messages

Admins....one of you were looking into this previously to advise why. I don't have lots of messages in my sent box nor my inbox so what gives with the auto deletion??? If I wanted to delete I would

They do auto delete after a while, I don't know a time on that though because they're usually off the end of the page x

If you are a site supporter this allows you to save a message. It won't matter then if the site auto deletes it as you will have a copy in your saved message box.
