distance search

Can anyone advise me how the distances are calculated on the area search here please ?

I just used it set at 30 miles from my postcode (near Kendal,Cumbria)

And profiles for someone more than double this appeared...

Manchester(63mls / 1hr15mins)

Darlington(73mls / 1hr26mins)

Bingley(59mls / 1hr27mins)

Mmmm looking at replies to other questions posted in Site Help forum think its not looked at much.

Mmm just a bit miffed as to why some profiles/places appear in a search are more than double the distance...

Surely if i did a narrower search area,say 10mls,it would still throw up profiles well over that 10mls agsin ???

Maybe it measures from the edge of kendal rather than the centre ?

well if it works on postcodes,the village i live in is about a mile from end to end (i put kendal as its the nearest known town to me,and im 8mls south of Kendal.

Its still over 65ml drive from me Manchester,unless places like Bolton,Chorley and Preston are all classed as Manchester
