Green tick but no "Verified by x people"

What exactly does the green tick "verified by other users" mean?

Usually when a profile has a green tick there is also a mention in the left column of how many people have verified them, even if they are not displaying verifications.

But I have seen cases where there is a green tick but no mention at all of verifications.

Why would that occur?

You choose the show the verification summary. Some people choose not to.

Also if the people who verified them have left the site, they can't show verifications but still keep the tick.

Oh ok thanks redangel. It does say "Verified Genuine Profile" at the bottom of their profile.
