As question asks. Does anyone know if admin has access to your messages?

Yes, they monitor for spam and website addresses but you can report someone from your messages and its best to keep them on that occasion so admin can investigate your report

In theory yes, in practice they are far too busy and will only look at reported messages and message threads.

If Big Brother is watching he's a speed reader who has no life and doesn't even take time out to pee and just piddles in his seat...

I've reported before for abusive messages but that's not my issue here thanks. But it's good to know they can read them.

Haha well someone isn't that busy as they've been through mine. Maybe they have just made big puddles as they've piddled lol

O o O oo

To investigate reports etc yes or they wouldn't be able to investigate properly

To read the 500,000 messages sent a day, I doubt they would have time.

See my post above. I am not sure why you think Admin had read your messages unless someone had reported you of course

Ok so they have access for monitoring purposes but does it give them the right to delete unread messages? Which I can hardly think we're spam. And if it was spam they should be Informing me of the fact. This was happening on my old profile. I changed my password numerous times but it still went on.

It's happening again on my New profile.

I've taken screen shots consecutively while the page refreshed and it went from 271 down to 254!

I have a blog and posted on my status if anyone wanted to take a look to pm me for details. Now It's only happened since then. So for my logic it would have been far simpler for them to take down my status and warn me for it if this is not permitted. But really it is just the same as giving out your phone number or Kik or email address in a PM.

Tell me if I'm wrong here but deleting private messages is an Infringement of their terms without letting you know. I've only had a handful of messages asking for my blog details so I am positive they would not have all been for that.

Blog address isn't viewable on my status either. And on my old profile there was nothing of that kind on there X didn't have one at that stage.

Admin sometimes clear out unread messages that are getting old to free up server space. They haven't been through your inbox they've simply set off an algorithm that tidied up older unread messages from lots of inboxes.

If you had nearly 300 unread messages were you actually going to go through and read all of them?

It's just a bit of data housekeeping. If you have messages you can't bear to lose then save them.

They don't delete your mails , even if you were reported.

Below is some info about missing messages

https://www.fabswingers.com/articles/FAQ#messages_missing

I've not logged on for a while and now most of my messages have been deleted / I have loads of messages in my inbox and some of the older ones have gone missing

Fab is a super busy site. Hundreds of thousands of private mails are sent every day and we have tens of millions of such messages on our system. Because we do this mostly for free, we can't keep all the messages for ever because our costs would go up and up and the site would get slower and slower. Older messages that have already been read in "dormant" accounts that haven't been logged into for a while are removed from the system. Similarly if you have loads of mails in your inbox, the system will periodically remove some of the oldest.

Well I've had nearly 560 hundred unread messages not so long ago when I rejoined and deleted them myself and none had gone missing then as well as 400+ Shortly after that So I do periodically delete them. I also put a status up to say I'm deleting and apologising to those unread messages.

This isn't the problem. I've been here long enough to know what I've seen over the years. I'm on here nearly every day. I'll bulk delete again but can guarantee it'll happen again without me having as many as it did the week before when I didn't have as many.

Thanks for your help anyway. MissD

My Own Little World

Sometimes when a member goes UNLOS their sent mail disappears along with their profile.

Could explain the loss of some messages.

But yes, Fab does irritatingly delete some unread mail but leaves those that have been read. I don't understand the logic behind it.
