Can anyone let me know with the privacy settings we have on this site is your browsing history and who you chatted to safe? They can access your previous 12 months website activities.Any advice?

They are not going to be interested in who you chat too unless its illegal chat but they would be able to see your web history.

Our understanding:

The requirement to store data is on ISPs, not on websites. We have no obligation to store data.

The requirement only asks for ISP to store the domain accessed to be retained.

In cases like FAB, we now serve all our pages over HTTPS for your security (look for the padlock in the corner of the web address bar) so they would be unable to see pages viewed or messages exchanged by this regulatory mechanism anyway.

Crucially, what the ISPs are being asked to store is the domain and nothing beyond that.

For example, when requested by a magistrate, your ISP would have to revel that you visited www.fabswingers.com but not the pages you visited or the content you read or wrote.

The problem is number of state organisations who could ask to see this, possibly even councils.

Either way, if GCHQ want to tap you traffic, they'll do it anyway.
