webcam not working

Can I ask about webcams please. I am relatively new to the site and whilst in chat I can see my webcam in the wecam settings screen. when I click close on the settings the webcam area goes white and nobody cam view my cam. I can however view other peoples cams.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated..thank you
