Post disappears

Is there any way of finding out why a post disappears from a thread in the forums?

I added something which I'm pretty sure was inoffensive in a light hearted thread and now it's gone as is the post it 'replied' to.

If you quoted it, then it sounds like the post you replied to was the problem. I wouldn't worry too much, and move on.

If you were at serious fault, you'd know about it

It may not have been your post that needed to be removed but the one you quoted, and as you quoted it yours needed removing too..... if that makes sense
