So far as i'm aware people who message you get a message saying something about 'this person doesn't want messages from you, please think before you send this message', same for if they never replied last time you get asked if you're sure you want to message them?

Who doesn't get these messages and who actually does? Just asking, it's not vital to know the answer but i'm wondering.

"i get em everytime i try to pm you! "

aw - don't know if you're joking or not.

i replied though so don't see why you'd get the message after that? what do they say anyway?

Warrington & Glasgow

"You are outside xxxxxxxxxx's preferred age range.

xxxxxxxxxx is looking for people aged 78-98. Although those outside that age are not blocked from messaging, you are much more likely to get a reply from those who are looking for someone of your age."

O o O oo

Everyone will get the message if they are out of your age range or preferences etc and you have not applied their own mail filters. Obviously if you have mail filters on they will get a big "UH OH "!!! you can't mail this person " type message.

Nothing to do with SS though

Yeah i took block filters off because even though i blocked all fems and couples because of fake couples and fems, i don't wanna stop anyone from being able to message me from the forums. Will be sad if i have to fully add that block, is there a way of doing this but people being able to message me if they want to? I haven't made that many friends from the forums but have made a few who message me and like chatting to them and would probably enjoy others too.

So i know that people outta my ranges and who have been filtered get that message. Thought so, they just choose to ignore that message and give me grief about it.

if you run out of messages, whether replying to some one, or sending frsh messages you get a notice telling you that you've gone over your message limit.

we were sendinfg out invites to similar profiles to ours in our wider area, and although unsure what the limit turned out to be, i guess it was less than even a few hundred, but only lasts ti;ll the next day (after midnight if i remember rightly)

my main point is that if not being able to send or reply is due to being over your message sending limit, then you will recieve a notice saying so.

i'm guessing this is for two, fairly obvious, reasons:

1. to help prevent automated messages (although i cant think why such would be the case on this kind of site, but you never know as there is always some asshole willing to get paid for any kind of shit),which tend usually to be spammers, or scammers getting paid from companies who think they are being promoted (for every link clicked onto, the client/advertiser pays them... there are many variations and reasons for robot/automated mailing.

2. it is to save space on fabs server.

some websites might have there own server computers, which although having pretty hefty storage amounts, are not non-the-less infinite.

or they may rent server space from companies who specialise in what can sometime be large warehouse-like rooms full of srerver computers. and each client company will be renting either space on one of the servers, or a whole server to themselves depending on their wealth, or needs.

even big companies liker google plus (google+) give you a limit of storage space on free accounts, and this helps ensure that their server computers dont get too bogged down and sluggish due to running out of space storing emails,l videos, photos, websites...(you name it).

and if you pay, then you generally get unlimited server space (generally, for e.g. linden lab's secondlife virtual world, when so many new premium , or paid accopunts occur, they buy brand new server computers, hence the "unlimited" capacity of premium accounts. it's kinda normal and fair enough practice as most folk dont need much more than basic free account storage, and so on.)

so fab will be using this function to stay within it's means, and keep the site rolling.
