Disappearing pics

Apologies if already posted somewhere but why is it that all my profile photos disappeAr at least once every day? Sometimes for minutes, sometimes for over an hour. I then get messaged by people asking why I've hidden them!

Sometimes they set to friends only or private

There's clearly some kind of problem, it's happening more and more recently. I've worked out that if I just click on Manage Photos then come straight out of it they reappear but not long before they go again
