deleted messages

I randomly find sometimes that all messages to a particular person have vanished from my sent box and inbox...where do they go??

I think they get sucked into cyber space after a certain amount of time to save server space

Or it could be that new messages have come in and knocked the old ones off the page,deleting some will bring the old ones back up
