mail deleted?

wondering if we can have some help,checked our account earlier and every singleone of our read mails have been deleted but the unread ones are still there??

All our sent mail folder is intact and neither myself or my partner deleted the missing mail so we are left at a loss to whats happened?

could be that after a while read mail gets automatically deleted to save on bandwidth and space
