Not online but in chat

Bit confused. Saw a profile that shows that the person was last online 23 hours ago, but in chat now.

How can that be?

Sometimes when you leave chat it does not log you out. That is why chat resets once per day.

If they're not active on the (web) site, it doesn't show them as online.
