Who's near is not working

Need to know basis

For the past couple of weeks all those displayed on my Who's near are showing people from Belper, Derby, Nottingham etc...which is 5/6 hours away from where I live so not that near really!

I've sent a message to admin but no response.

I've switched Who's near on and off, no improvement

I've taken my gps coordinates off and on, no improvement

Can admin please have a look and let me know if something in my settings needs changing?

Thanks

Does your GPS or Maps app show you in the correct location?

Does Google Maps in your browser show you in the correct location?

When you switch on Who's Near, your GPS co-ordinates are shown at the bottom of the page, are they correct?

Yes to all the above. Thanks for your post. I wished someone from admin would look into it though

I only use my phone to log onto fabs and wifi is on. But thank you, you've made me think of trying to use my laptop to see if the problem is the same there.

When I look at your profile, it shows you using the mobile site (phone icon) and it gives a distance from your home location, but it's not showing a "mobile distance". If you leave it turned on, we can check if they correspond.

Gps is on, who's near is on and I can see your mobile distance. I added myself as a friend and you're right that dat is not showing on my profile although I am on my mobile.

I have not made changes to any settings on my phone, and I have no idea what the problem could be. Very strange. Thanks for the suggestion, I think that's one for Admins but still no comment from them

As per your first post, the GPS location your phone is sending is in Belper area. We can only show results as accurate as the location info your phone sends.

If you copy + paste the lat/long location at the bottom of the who's near screen into google maps you can see exactly where your phone thinks it is located.

What type of phone is it?

Looking at your profile now, it's showing the following:

"Distance:

190+ miles away

(240+ driving)(About right for Dorset)

Right now:

They are on mobile, 60+ miles away(About right for Belper)"

But see the response from Admin, above.

Thank you Admin for your help. Google has me in Belper. It must be my phone, its a bberry curve 9320 - not one of the best! I still puzzled that my gps coordinates can suddenly have changed like that.

Thank you Rainman too for helping out.

I'll have to change my phone at some point, maybe that will sort it.

You're welcome! I think I've seen others complain about trouble with Who's Near on Blackberrys.
