Need some help from someone in the know please!

Have a friend on here who I've chatted to for a while. I can no longer see their account though. I dont have it on block, he doesnt have me on block,. When he goes in the chat room he can see me but no one can see him. When I search for his user name its not recognised - however if I put in his user name to block - then it shows his account!!!

Help - its driving me mad!
