when I click the "save" link in a message they arent appearing in my saved messages

Are you saving the incoming messages? As I don't think it saves just the sent ones.

I see - it will only save the messages I have received not the ones I have sent.

strange that it offers me the option to save them tho

Yeah I know, but unless things have changed I don't think you can save sent ones.

Admin will be able to tell you once they log in though.

It can't save sent messages

It shouldn't show the save link. Or it should show it and actually save them.

Why would you want to save sent ones? To make it easier for copy/pastes?

Yes I know I can do that separately but it is easier on site.
