Hi guys,

We can't seem to use our iPad in the chat rooms..

We can see the chat but not use or see other cams, is this a problem just we have or is it not possible to use the cam on an iPad..

The site uses Flash. Apple don't support Flash.

You can download Puffin browser which will let you watch cams, but not broadcast your own.

I agree, apple should pull their fingers out! I'm always having problems on shopping sites and such like coz they use flash player!

You can use chat rooms just not the cams on iPad. Are you hitting return to send message as I know it took me a while to work that out.

They won't worth as Apple and Adobe cannot come to an agreement for Apple to use flash on safari browser

Thanks guys for your help,, would just be easier if we could use our cam on the iPad rather than the family PC, unsure if it's to do with apple as we use our cam on the iMac !

iMac is an Apple device, just like iPad. Apple have decided not to support Flash, which is the cam programme which most sites use.

The iPad, along with the iPhone and iPod Touch, does not support Adobe Flash. This include Flash videos, games and websites that use Flash for navigation. As time goes on, more developers are turning to HTML 5 to do the things they used to do with Adobe Flash, with HTML 5 being fully supported by the iPad's Safari browser.

But why doesn't Apple just simply support Flash until HTML 5 catches up?

Flash lacks reliability.

Flash has been pointed to as one of the most common culprits when a Mac crashes, which is one of the major reasons why Steve Jobs took a stand against Flash coming to the iOS platform. Flash also raises security concerns and has had performance issues on mobile devices.

Perhaps the biggest reason why we won't see Flash in the future comes not from Apple, but from Adobe. Flash has continued to have problems in the mobile market, and with the rise of HTML 5, the writing is on the wall. Adobe dropped support for mobile Flash and switched their support to HTML 5 in 2011

Your imac was probably made before apple and Adobe fell out.

Although HTML5 allows video, HTML5 can't (yet) access the cam on your device. So no one would be able to broadcast their cam. This is a problem.

We are looking into ways of enabling those with iphones/ipads to participate but it won't happen overnight.
