"Why does it matter, if not responded to, person sent it too not interested, accept it as a no and move on to next profile" ^^^^ this. What benefit would there be to knowing when it was read??

"Maybe a function that shows when your message was read or deleted?" Erm, there is already such a feature on here. Too many people get hung up on it though, it needs to go!

"Maybe a function that shows when your message was read or deleted?" Move away from the keyboard and sent screen, once sent forget. If you get a inbox notification, happy days.. If not its a bloody big here, keep plugging away. Roman wasn't built in a day

"Maybe a function that shows when your message was read or deleted? Erm, there is already such a feature on here. Too many people get hung up on it though, it needs to go! " If it went you would create a new problem. Often in the chat rooms you will see men type something like "Hey sexylegs I sent you an email did you get it?" It bugs the hell out of me. ONLY two things happen to an email. It either gets delivered or it gets returned to you with a message stating it was unable to deliver the message. If your email does not get sent back to you as undeliverable that means YES the person you emailed got your email. Take away the option to see when an email you send is read or deleted and people would get extra mail as the sender will be unsure if they got it. They would send repeat emails with something like "I am not sure if you got my first email". You can't win pmsl. OP why do you need to know when it was read or deleted? Why would knowing the time matter? You already have the option of seeing if the message has been read or deleted.

"After sending delete straight away " This. After sending email delete your sent items folder. If you get a reply great. If you don't get a reply then so be it. If you delete your sent items there is no need to be constantly checking your sent items folder to see when an email is read or deleted.

"If you go into your sent folder and the message you sent to them is not there, they have read and deleted it. If it is still there, next to it, it will say that its been read " Not quite true, I'm afraid. Only the account holder deletes things out of their sent folder. The sent folder shows 1 of 3 statuses, for each message:- ~ unread (still highlighted in yellow) ~ read (means read and not deleted) ~ deleted (means deleted - not necessarily read-and-deleted, could have been deleted-unread). The point many of us are trying to make is that all this information is irrelevant. We shouldn't obsess about our sent items, trying to hypothesize what reaction our messages have caused. The only important response is a REPLY - and these are in our inboxes. I never look at my sent items.
