FabSwingers.com forum: help new cam hidden?

hi we have got a new tesco value webcam it works on other sites but not in fab chat have done all the things in freqently asked questions in including updating flash player and checking all settings.

it detects cam but when select it it says cam hidden??our old cam worked no problem.

any help we using flash version 11.7.700 202

on acer aspire 5332 laptop

running windows vista using google chrome as browser.

This may be the answer....it works in some situations.

Have you tried switching off all devices...shutting everything down....then switch back on.

will try but have tried clearing cookies an re starting everything.installed it all again and tried different usb slot.it detects cam it comes up in preview box then when click close setting box cam goes off then says hidden.if u hide an unhide makes no diference.

but it does work in old user plane??

i had this same problem with the tesco brand... would not work at all but then down loaded the later version of the acrsoft web companion and it now works fine .. hope this helps you

also try downloading opera browser this works and is faster than google

just spoke to a comp boffin for ya. UNINSTALL your webcam then REINSTALL should work then

had done a uninstall among other things yesterday but will uninstall it again reinstall restart and use opera browser and report back.thanks

thank you so much i read loads of posts on cams and probs not that.it did cross my mind bu thought na no be that.went an grabed my ps2 rock band mic an hey presto

Does anyone have a logical explaination as to why plugging in a totally unrelated Mic would enable a cam to work and why is it only necessary on Fab chatrooms (New one) ? x

funny enough that happened to one of the cams here and a comp boffin came in plugged unrelated mike in hey presto that desktop cam worked and has done ever since weird or wot?
