I don't think so... I tried to change mine from single to couple and admin said I had to have a new account.

It's different the other way.

If you're verified as a single (including photo verified) then yes, you need to set up a new account using a different email address. It's logical that couples may split (my account was a couples for a decade) so changing to a single profile is possible.
