Additional sign in code?

Hi! When signing in recently I have to enter an additional code. Consisting of numbers and capital letters. What is this for and how do I stop it from appearing. I don’t see the point in keying in an additional code and if it can be avoided I’d appreciate knowing how.

It is random and nothing you can do to turn it off.
