Cam source detects old cam

Hi people. i have had a problem with my cam for a while now...wen i click on camera icon in settings. the cam source doesn't pick up my cam, but instead it can detect an old cam i was using...my camera does not need software as it is plug & play..is there anyway i can remove the cam source detected? thanks
