What does it mean if a message thread vanishes and so does that contact/friend?

I’ve been deleting my sent unread messages for years. Does that mean they are deleted from the recipients mailbox or just mine?

I've had this happen twice recently.

Had a message within the last 10 mins of me reading it. Then when I go to reply, I can't add the threat has disappeared

I know. Just seems weird how quickly after sending a message. Quite detailed messages too. Not just a 'How's you?' Type effort

Anyway, it's a weird place this, so expect the unexpected lol

I know. Just seems weird how quickly after sending a message. Quite detailed messages too. Not just a 'How's you?' Type effort
