Showing unread messages

We have the top unread message drop down highlighted & showing 1 unread message- thing is we haven't got any unread messages maybe a glitch in the system but when you press it, simply shows all messages as read - doin my head in a bit as keep thinking we have fresh mail

Any ideas on how to unread highlight it please

Its a message thats been sent straight after the sender sent one like in the message convo, when u opened the message both messages wouldve been there but shows as just one.. sorry am rubbish at explaining.. usually reverting back to the old style mailbox resolves it
