I've recently come across quite a few hidden profiles, from either mail from them or just causing/creating trouble etc in forums.

Surely you shouldn't have the same full site facilities while hiding your profile?

Shouldn't they at least have restrictions on their account? Whether its mailing or creating/posting threads?

Viewing rights only??

I don't think that would be fair. Some hide their profiles if they aren't in a position to meet at the moment to stop people mailing them but still use the forums to chat etc, I've done it myself x

but you CAN still mail them.

I still get mail from some, I just think it's unfair.

I think it would be fair if they sent a private mail to someone for that person to be able to view their profile only via the message...as a way of privately allowing you to see who they are etc.

As for the forums, again I think it could be that if someone posts from a hidden account then the persons in that particular thread maybe or should be allowed to see who they are?

I am all for privacy as that's very important to some people...but there has to be a balance some where. Just like you have pictures for friends only, maybe there should be a section for other parts of your profile for friends only? I think it's important to have some access to basis info such as age, location and interests etc as you could never tell who they are in a million years from just that without a full name or photo!?

The profile hidden option is so people can't see the profile, so allowing people to see it if you post on a forum or send a mail defeats the object.

I like it how it is, we use it when we get too many mails and want to slow them down or if we log in late at night it stops the leaving the pub mails.

Why would you want to change the way OTHER people use the site? You use the site the way that works for you, and other people do the same. If they want to hide their profiles, they are perfectly entitled to. If someone with a hidden profile mails you (and this annoys you), just use the 'delete' button.

On the other hand, if you mean that a specific mail or forum post (from any profile, whether open or hidden) is against site rules, then just report that mail or forum post, and Admin will deal with it.

I wouldn't want to dictate to OTHERS on how they can/can't use the site!

Ok, so I should work around them is what you're saying!?

Either deletion or block?

i have mine hidden for that exact reason... But i still enjoy the Chatroom and forums...
