We'll sometimes be looking for someone on the browser search facility.

We maybe have a good idea of their name but may not be aware of a spacer or what case the letters are or some other miner difference.

However when we log the name into the above facility if just one of these things is missing/different the search comes back with not found.

Would it not be possible to have a less pedantic/exacting facility that left more leeway for slight error as long as the name/s were similar?

XXXX

er...guess

Fuzzy searching is clever stuff and I suspect it takes expensive processing power.

I'm impressed that the namesearch here it takes "billy" and finds "billysexy" as well as "hotbilly".

You can already do searches using only part of someones username but it has to be more than 2 characters you type in the box. It doesn't have to be case sensitive either.

I just did a search for your profile with only putting 'trac' as the search criteria and you came up fourth in the list of found profiles, but the order people appear in the list will depend on when they were last online.

Hope this helps!

Totteridge/Whetstone

Do what bb suggests above, just search for a bit of the name so long as you're using more than 3 characters e.g. "ric" would bring up your profile
