Friends requests you didn’t send

Why does it say friends request accepted by so and so but I’ve never sent them one in the first place?

We've had this a few times and never worked it out.

I know that if you unfriend someone the request appears back in you request box, then you just delete it.

I wondered if someone had unfriended us at some point and the re added us. The thing is that we didn't recognise the profiles at all. Weird.

It is weird because I’ve had a couple tonight and the one that I clicked on we hadn’t even exchanged messages so I wouldn’t of accepted one from him previously.
