Changing Country and Messaging

I have changed my Country from UK to Canada and messaged someone. They've viewed my profile but not read my message. Are you able to view messages and respond to people in different Countries?

I know it sounds cocky and stupid but this person doesn't have supporter so wouldn't know I've view their account, and it's the first time i've done this. Thanks.
