Preferences change and see who's near

There used to be option in preferences "I'm the age they are looking for" this has now gone but defaults to it as a preference anyway, why?

Also when searching for those on mobile nearby, I can see people I know are online, as I'm chatting to them, and we fit ALL each others preferences. Why is this?
