Am I using the Chat Wrong

I log on and it just looks like lots of random chats, can you filter the chat, can you go to specific rooms and can you whisper to someone if you wish?

Yes, there normally is all random chats going on.

You can filter the chat by blocking anyone you don't want to see chatting if that is what you mean, but until you get used to it, that means you may miss out on some fun

Normally it is polite to ask people can you whisper them.
