Emoji placement

Why is it that we can't insert emojis into the middle of a paragraph?

When I read a post/message back I sometimes think "ooh that bit needs an emoji for emphasis". So I click the one I want and it always just gets tacked onto the end? So then I have to remember the symbol for it and - gasp - type it out MYSELF. Or copy and paste. It really is quite an inconvenience

The little niggles we have to put up with.

Oh that emoji should have been after the first sentence. Lol
