I've recently downloaded safari but now I can only view cams and my cam won't work

You could try another browser, the types of query terms to type into Google for solutions will be "enable webrtc in Safari."

Most of the trouble, I've seen, stems from permissions not being granted to the browser to access your webcam and mic. Sometimes the options to enable those are buried in settings.

I've deleted safari browser and installed Firefox all works now
