Messages disappearing

I'm fairly certain that I've not deleted the message string but it has disappeared. I thought it might be because we've not messaged each other recently and there is somesort of auto-delete for inactive message strings. But I still have message strings for conversations with other people that are more historic than the one that's disappeared. My current theory is that the other person has deleted the string and this has filtered down to also removed from my inbox and sent items? That doesn't really make sense to me though.

Just checked and they haven't blocked me. Also they were 'last online' 17 hours ago.

Problem solved! I messaged her and when she replied our whole previous conversation was right back.

"Problem solved! I messaged her and when she replied our whole previous conversation was right back. "

We have the same, been looking for messages from different people we've chatted to over past months and all gone.

You shouldn't need for them to reply to then read what was said before. It's caused a few unnecessary issues.

So can admin put any light on why this happens? It's not that we're on daily messaging to create loads of messages either.

https://www.fabswingers.com/articles/FAQ

Fab is a super busy site. Hundreds of thousands of private mails are sent every day and we have tens of millions of such messages on our system. Because we do this mostly for free, we can't keep all the messages for ever because our costs would go up and up and the site would get slower and slower. Older messages that have already been read in "dormant" accounts that haven't been logged into for a while are removed from the system. Similarly if you have loads of mails in your inbox, the system will periodically remove some of the oldest.

If some mails are important to you and you want to make sure they're not deleted, become a site supporter and save any important mails to your "saved message folder" (look for "save it" on the bottom of messages you receive) and we'll keep those mails on the system (unless we screw things up and they get deleted too; but we'll try not to!).
