We have an icon saying we have a new message, but can’t see the message? Any idea why?

If the notification stays there when you’ve looked at your inbox, as if it’s stuck, apparently switching from the new style mailbox to old and back again can clear it.

If it disappears when you click on your inbox, it happens to me sometimes and I have a theory that it might be someone who messaged you then deleted their profile before you saw the message. It happens with winks and friend requests sometimes as well.
