I have my messages showing as 1 in inbox even though there isn’t? Any chance this can be rectified / is a quick fix?x

If you're using the "new" mailbox switch back to the old, then back to the new.

If you're using the "old" mailbox do the opposite, should clear it for you.

Try again, but change the mailbox, log out and log back in again, then change it back this time.

It's a common problem apparently.

Consider removing your cookies, then restarting, as well as the tip on switching mailbox types. If it doesn't work, compare it when you log in via a different web browser
