Message Filters not working

I have message filters on, such that males cannot directly contact me.

I've had multiple men message me tonight, are filters broken?

If you have had contact with the filtered group previously then that bypasses the filters. For example a quick exchange of messages many moons ago or winks, then the filter excludes them when applied
