Societal expectations and ideals of what beauty is - add in a few cultural variants and it's tricky to work out where you belong. Even in a professional capacity there's a certain whitewashed view on what it means to look professional and polished.

On a personal level, looking at fab, there's only a handful if that of people I'd feel comfortable with with seeing my natural curls. I worry that people won't find me attractive if I do which is daft but I can't help but feel there's some truth to that. Look at hot pics, the women who are often flirted with and lusted over on the fora. All follow a particular white ideal with straight hair, a slim body and not physical attributes you'd stereotypically expect to find on a woman of colour.

Definitely the woods, especially just after rain...the earthy smell, the colours, the shadows and the dappled light coming through the branches, the sound of animals and the leaves rustling in the wind. Forests to me are mysterious and really quite romantic places, but i'm quite biased as I spent a chunk of my childhood with a large forest as my playground

I have to confess that I like the silliness of some of them. I enjoy the nocturnal thread and Ash and Lorna’s bar. I like this thread for getting to know people. Phwooaar, the MLS threads, Estella’s timed threads - so many.

I like to keep things light and I only really get into other threads if it’s something that I feel strongly about.

I like the style of some people ‘s threads. Rubi, Cheeky and Dash for example.

As with your response, I agree its gone way too far. Also agree that it helps some people. I believe now it is more of a political agenda than genuinely trying to protect people. It's more about power and control now. I think it's actually making it worse in some cases for the people "they" claim to be protecting.

I said I wouldn’t waste any of the apple juice. She didn’t believe me. I said I would make sure none was wasted. It was probably about 10 pints! The vat was full and I had to carry it. Jokingly I said “I will lick it up if it spills”. She told me that I better do. I laughed and promptly tripped while carrying it. Of course!!!! She grabbed the mop and soaked it up. My stomach just sank. She grinned and said “you offered, suck it up buttercup”. I am not one to back down when I feel dared, I gulped and grimaced. I sat on the stool and sucked the juice out of the mop. I could’ve cried but it was my own damn fault for joking and taunting and being the clumsiest human ever.
