Normandy France

We went out shopping yesterday (dept 14) all the selves were full even toilet paper in abundance (1 pack of 6 per-person) people respecting the 2 metre distance and no full trollies of provisions. Very civilised... But no swinging going on

Cap d’Agde, France

Same here in the Cap, no shortages, no panic buying, everybody complying, very civilised and reassuring.

It is a bit of a challenge though to swing keeping 2 metres apart!

Was there the initial panic and then quickly settled?

I was in Tesco yesterday lunchtime and many empty shelves. Wine and beer almost gone.

I guess in France no need to worry about lack of wine.

Let’s hope it clears soon. Oh how I’ve taken for granted that I can simply drive to France when it suits me. I have (had?) plans to spend most of the summer cycling through and around France.

I was walking my dog up the very empty main road this afternoon and a woman came out of her garden to yell at me to go home. I was already 50m away from her and hopefully she got a sore throat because of it. I had an attastation.

Army on border to Spain.

It's in the next town and they've already set up an emergency hospital.

Went to the intermache local to us and only one person per trolley and the place was empty of people and many shelf’s still empty and all staff were in masks and had gloves on.

Drove for an hour plus to the airport at Limoges and the roads were eerily empty but encountered no police checks at all.

Airport was empty and all in all was just a very strange few hours.

Just been informed by the local mayor that a curfew is being imposed in the village from 2000 to 0500 until the end of the month.

We live in the country looking down over the village so it does not really have an effect on our lives - besides, we usually are indoors by then having dinner.

The reason that the curfew is being imposed is due to people ignoring the rules of self isolation and in a small village, this is difficult to manage.

I guess, with a curfew, anyone outdoors is breaking the law and so easier to stop.

The rules change daily...

We haven't got that yet in our little village and like your place, ours is a ghost town that time of night anyways..

Macron is on again tonight so maybe that’s going to be one of the new rules or maybe more.

I’m ok as I’m in bed by ten.

Stay safe everyone.

Didn't catch my flight, to return to work, from Dublin to Nice yesterday evening.

Decided to tough it out here with friends and family.

Hope you're all doing ok over there.

Macca didn’t make a speech last night because he hadn’t had time to meet the top medical bod so he is on tonight laying down the law.

Limoges airport closed down yesterday so we were lucky to get our daughter back just in time ,phew!!

From looking at the news we believe it’s also compulsory face mask wearing in public but may be wrong.

The end of April is likely for the next extension. That will be 6 weeks as recommended by the WHO.

Hopefully, after then, the instances of outbreaks can be contained by local lockdowns.

I doubt if border controls will be lifted for quite some time though as I cannot see France willingly let in people from other countries who may have reacted differently in their approach to this pandemic.

Everything will be constantly reviewed of course and decisions made on evidence and advice but I think that all holidays will be taken in France for the foreseeable future.

Can't see how the mask in public will work! It's almost impossible to get hold of them!

Also works on IPod and IPad for those without a smartphone. You can also tick more than one box as well.

Most garden centres open for online purchase and then drive in/through pick-up. Ditto DIY stores.

Yesterday someone we know was nabbed in the Naturiste village on her bicycle without the relevant piece of paper. Picked a 135 euro fine.

A bit like a pal who was knicked a few years ago for no helmet on his moped. Wasn’t wearing anything else either
