London

I was surprised to see the bus driver on the service from Montpelier to Montpelier airport using his mobile phone for the entire journey. ( no hands free kit). Are you allowed to use mobile phones while driving in France ? . Whilst I do not drive for a living I hold licences to drive buses and lorries and a higher standard is expected that that of car drivers .

I was slightly shocked on attempting to cross the road in Cap d Agde to see A lady coming down the road at high speed on a motorised skateboard . Is their use on roads legal ?. Someone was killed on one in London a few weeks ago.

Cap d’Agde, France

Our young (French) cousin was fined 90euros and was given 3 penalty points last week even though she was on hands-free whilst driving.

The new cameras being used are vicious.

Bergerac, France

It's certainly illegal to hold a mobile phone whilst driving.

But like all laws in France, they are treated as a suggestion only. If you don't want to conform, it's ok to disregard it..!

Taxis, trucks, coaches and buses are regularly driven while the driver holds the phone.

It was in the 70's and 80's when truck drivers always had a TV on the dashboard watching the football while driving along the autoroutes.

Last year over 3,200 people were killed on French roads.

Still much too high...
