Hi, we will be in Cap weekend of 28/29/30 Sept for our first ever visit. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel/accommodation? Looking for good central location with a swimming pool. Any help and advise would be welcome. Thanks x

I would recommend you get accommodation inside the nudist village ,will be more expensive but will be a much better experience.

There a few hotels in the village Google hotels in the naturists village and make yr choice, they are not cheap, also look at oltra campsite they have accommodation, other than that it's an apartment.

Its cheap as chips from this weekend as the winter rates kick in.

For instance our places similar to our apartment reduce from the peak rate of 155 Euro pn to 67 Euro pn

We have seen a few apartments in the naturist village on AirBNB however have also seen a hotel called "Résidence Odalys Nakâra" however it seems to be the opposite end of Cap to the Naturist Village. Is this a problem?

The other hotel which looks like to be in the Village is "Natureva Spa"

All similar prices. Any help would be grateful. Thanks x

google resin nateve cap d'aged. They are part of the hotel but also rent out apartments. They have a beautiful appt in Port Nature down by the beach with a beautiful terrace and view of the sea. It is a roof terrace overlooking Tantra. On winter rates you will not find a better apartment available and much better and cheaper than the overpriced hotels. Might be a bit quiet over there at that time though. PM if you want any more info.

To be honest it will be fairly quiet here by the end of September. It's hard to predict what will still be open but weekends should still be lively enough. It's a short season and you can see it winding down already.

"Next question, what bars/clubs should we head too? "
All the bars are close together so it is easy to do walk to see what they are like .

A good starting point is Pilouterie Bar in Port Ambonne . There is a great view from it for people watching and they have live musicians most nights. Maxines also has live music most nights. I think both these bars stay open throughout the year including weekday nights . Other bars close at or towards the end of the season.

For daytime sex it is Histories of O which is open every day all year . The only difference is that off season they close between 7 pm and 9 pm before 're opening again.

Most Brits visit it sometime during their stay.

Histoire d'O by Pauline Réage is the great classic of French erotica (proper literature) about a woman called "O' who subjects herself totally to be a sex slave.

The club Histoire d'O bears small resemblance to the story line and is in effect one half of a large sauna.

One half, 2x2 is strictly couple only and the other, H.d'O', is mixed, i.e. where the single guys go.

Inside there is a connecting door with a code where couples can go from one side to the other but 2x2 is barred to single guys.

Always popular on overcast days, lots of advice on the forum about this club.

They are quite different and we wouldn't say one is better than the other. We like both but for different reasons.

At Kamasutra you have the outdoor pool area so on a nice day you can just chill around the pool then pop downstairs to play for a while then go back to the pool.

On the downside (for some) all the play areas are open so if you want a private session then you will struggle. Also during the day and early evening it is 100% mixed so if you like couples only then it's probably not for you.

Histories d'O/2 et 2 gives you the option of couples only on the 2 et 2 side but you can go through the internal door to the Historie d'O side where it is mixed.

You also have the option of open and private play areas. On iffy (or bad) weather days it can get very busy.

On the downside it is all indoor so no chilling around the pool.

Great day at Kamasutra. Hot and sunny by the pool, beach very windy. Good mix of couples and singles in the sauna. Only downside for us was the chlorine making eyes a bit stingy but place was spotless.

In our opinion it's best to give all or at least most the places a whirl when you visit Cap. Wherever you go it will be an experience to remember, open your mind, be tolerant and jump in feet first. Have fun. X

You can Google the weather updates and make decision accordingly. If the weather is not great, then during the day time Sauna 2*2, Histoire d'O is preferable.

The Riad5Excellence I know organizes 'Love Boat' trip but that's for only those who are staying there for a minimum of 4 nights.

By the way, I'm going there too on the same weekend. Maybe we can meet up for a social and see?

From mid September the place goes into wind down, by October it will be very quiet and quite a lot of the bars and restaurants will be closed.

The sauna in Port Ambonne will still be open and some of the clubs will open at the weekends. But that will be about it. Also there will be very few international visitors. What few people are there will be almost exclusively French.

I think that the supermarket in Poet Ambonne is also now closed .

However as Pilouterie, Maxines and the Sauna are still over you can still have a great time and it li ens up at the weekend .

Joys 're opens this weekend according to the notice on the door .

Exactly. Had a great beach day on Sunday, plenty of people although not much action.

Daytime temperatures still high but chilly at night. High 20's forecast this week.

But Cap has decided that summer is over.

Luckily, we're off to Spain in a couple of weeks for the winter.

As others have said, a lot will be closed. Although Le Pilouterie and Le Palmeraie should be open. Maximes and Bodega Bar (all in Port Ambonne) probably as well. Not sure about O2Bizoux (The old Wokkers) Jonny and Jenny always closed at the end of September but the new owners may (or may not) think differently.

If you are looking for the kind of sports bars you would get in a Spanish resort then forget it. There are none.

For French league games you may have a chance of it being on the TV in one of the normal bars.

English Premier League? Very VERY doubtful, in fact I would go as far to say no chance.

Anyway. Why the hell would anyone want to go to Cap and watch footie?

We spent two weeks there this year trying our best to avoid the World Cup.

Yes I would think Port Ambonne would be your best bet of finding things open.

From Port Venus it's a leisurely 5 minute stroll.

Excluding the camp site the whole village is only around 10 minutes from end to end.

I am certain you won't find British football here. They do show all the French games in Port Ambonne though. We watched Lyon v Marseille the other night. Saying that I love football and watch everything that's on at home but haven't missed it whilst here. Too many other good things going on.

If you are desperate the town is 10 mins away and you may have a chance there. Loads of bars there.

If you rent an apartment in the village most include a parking space, some even come with a garage.

In early May it will be quiet midweek although the weekends pick up a bit, but still quiet compared to mid June onward.

Also at that time it can be very hit and miss with the weather and evenings can be quite cool, even after a nice day.

There's a very good reason why a lot of Bike magazines use this area when reviewing bikes. It's got some of the best rides in Europe. It can't compete with some of the very best Alpine/Italian rides of course, but for sheer choice and variety it's hard to beat. Quite a few biker campsites and gites around too.

It's unbearably hot in July and August for full gear, so May and September are ideal.

Enjoy....

Friday/Saturday night in Cap, would recommend evening meal 9-10pm onward wherever open at this time and onto La Casa or Bodega bars. 11.30 onwards for a bit of a bop and then on to a club, again for a bit of a bop and any other opportunities that present themselves.

Nothing much happens in the dance bars before 11pm nor the clubs before 1am.

However if you want to skip the meal & dance and just want to play then 2x2 in Port Ambonne is the place to be

Near Agde

You'll be arriving in peak season, so just about everything is more expensive.

You will find cheaper accommodation outside the village and if its just a weekend, the taxi fares to and from will probably make up for it.

But you can't get away from the fact that the whole Cap experience revolves around staying in the village. For lots of reasons..

You may find Oltra campsite has something available for weekends.

Failing that, try to come a little earlier in the season. Mid to late June is great, everything open and prices a little lower..

Good luck

From an owner's prospective it's a case of renting your place for a weekend - 2/3 nights but you could have lost a booking for a week and lose between 400-800€! As stated earlier in the season you will get 3 night's but in peak your restricted to hotels! A point to note if someone has a "gap" between bookings you might get lucky.

We have just returned from our first weekend in Cap. We had a fantastic time and the weather last weekend was great!

I would say that shops/restaurants were around 50% open although many more were shutting this week.

We are in no way hardened swingers and have only started dipping our toes in over the past 12 months so visiting Cap was a pretty big step for us.

We stayed in Port Venus which is a smaller area about 5 min walk away from the main areas which was perfect for us. We spent lots of time on the beach during the day and had some lovely meals out in the evening. We went to 2+2 place on 2 occasions. The Saturday night was very busy with couples with little space in any of the play rooms! The Sunday night was quieter so we wondered into the single male area where we had some fun with a fit guy.

We also had time to rent some bikes and head into the main port area of cap d'agde which was good as well!

We did not venture out to any of the nightclubs as this time we were happier to go to 2+2 however we are sure there was so much more to experience there so we are hoping to go back again next year!

Thanks to everyone who responded to this forum post and to everyone who gave us some great advice x

Great to know you enjoyed the first visit there. I was in the Sauna 2+2 on Sunday evening too. Wish I could find time to interact with you. You were the couple with the American guy, right?

Glad you had a great time - can anyone tell me how easy it is to travel into the resort from the neighbouring area some hotels state they’re 0.8 km from resort but the resort itself looks huge - would you need a car to get around it ? Ideally we’d like to stay in the resort but it’s €300 a night in a hotel and a quarter of that to stay close by . We’d obviously like to have a few drinks and a bit of a boogie/ fun at night just not sure how easy it’d be to get back to our hotel after .

Excluding the camp site (which is huge in its own right) the village itself is quite compact. To walk from one end to the other shouldn't take much more than around 10 minutes.

The whole Cap d'Agde resort is much bigger and you could find yourself quite a distance from the village.

While 800 metres isn't that far to walk in the daytime, late at night could be different. While there are no specific safety issues, walking down any quiet road in the early hours can be a bit risky.

We always stay inside the village so have never had to look for a taxi but by all accounts they are quite difficult to get.

Why does it have to be a hotel? Even in high season you would get an apartment in the village for much less than 300€ a night.

Forgot to add that if you factor in the difference in cost of your village pass (if you are staying inside it is considerably less) it closes the gap even more.

Not many will do a weekend in July in peak season and risk losing 4 night's income- unless they have a "gap" between bookings!

Oh! Didn't realise they only wanted a weekend.

There is a motorhome hard standing with disposal point opposite Camping Le Clappe on Mole Beach - not sure when it closes.

You could try contacting 'playbabe_and_dickie'

They stayed just outside the village last July for a long weekend and came in each day.

Apparently though, you cannot come back in the resort after 8pm as a pedestrian (no problem in a car) so if you nip back to your hotel to eat or change for the evening you have to be aware of this little problem.

Actually it depends on what ticket you buy. A day ticket has the restriction - but a 3/5/7 day plus ticket gives unrestricted access for all users - just the daily that restricts.

Many thanks for all your help - I guess we’ll try and scour the websites for a gap in the apartment weeks but otherwise will need to stay outside and travel in and find a way home ..... either that or we just stay up all night

If you stay outside - when you come through the gate (on foot ) you will see lockers similar to swimming pool ones where you can lock valuables.

You could see if there are any other couples/males on Fab who would be willing to split a weeks accommodation 3 nights/4nights meaning you could secure the apartment for a full week yet only stay/pay for half!
