If you are driving in France the speed limit is being lowered from 90km to 80km per hour for single lane roads without a fence between lanes from 1st July.

If you are caught by the mobile patrols it will mean a fine and possibly points on your license.

Le Gendarmerie will be very busy for a while, then it will die off with the occasional purge now and again .

Here in 53 ,they seem to use some sneaky tactics but usually in the same places,

Mobile speed cameras are now being operated by private contractors who get paid on results, so they're very sneaky, including hiding cameras at the back of road signs.

The mobile cameras are fitted to the front of unmarked cars. They are not police cars, but cars run by a private company. Basically they drive randomly around and each day the camera and film is handed over to the authorities. Nothing sneaky about it - the camera is static and cannot be controlled by the car driver.

And any camera on the roadside is operated ONLY by the police. So beware - they have guns and the power to get 100 euros off you on the spot, or even confiscate your car.

"keep to the speed limits you wont have a problem simples ??? cant really see what all the fuss is about ???"

Not condoning speed But.

in short .the national speed limit is a fraction under 50 mph.most cars do at least twice that and the roads are mainly very straight and traffic free out of the towns and cities.

Theres going to be alot of money generated unless everybody buys an aixam

French drivers are "possibly" the worst in Europe all think they are F1 drivers. Drastic measures required - only way is to hit them in the pocket (wallet). Is there another country which allows people to drive without a license? It may only be a top speed of 30 but you can still do damage.

The 'Sans Permis' cars are hilarious...!

But I think they are popular in other countries as well.
