"Hi, me and the wife are looking at touring the Dordogne area again this August, this time though we're interested in looking at properties for sale with a view to maybe setting up a small campsite business, this would only be a way to top up our income and keep us busy as we would both be looking at taking early retirement here in the uk, firstly given how vast the Dordogne area is, is there a particular area that people would recommend to start looking bearing in mind that there would need to be places of interest for people to visit, secondly although there's plenty of campsites could anyone recommend somewhere different to stay in a motorhome, we was thinking of maybe in the grounds of a chateau are even a local resident who runs a small business renting out a pitch, if there's a swimming pool even better, although we're definitely touring France this summer we're only exploring the idea of moving to France in the next few years, we understand that brexit is a minefield at the moment which will probably influence our decision as to when's the right time to move but we like doing our homework first and a few litres of French wine sitting in the sun planning our future sounds like a good plan so any advice would be much appreciated. " There is a swingers camp site there called Diamanté Noir - black diamond.

"Thanks for the getting back to us. We are aware of Diamanté Noir - black diamond, unfortunately we had limited time last year but may try this year. Our combined pension should be enough to live off but we like to stay active so running a small campsite would suit us, but we're not going to rule out other options, wife's a teacher and I've been in construction for 30 years so hopefully we can settle in to a more relaxed way of life. We've travelled all over France using a mixture of campsites and Aires so are familiar with the set up but we're hoping for recommendations so that we can get to meet people and maybe build a network of friends in advance to moving. " I would suggest you choose an area, buy a camping book and write to those which interest you. It's a long shot but someone may be interested in selling and it's already set up for you. Good luck ![]()
