We have had a holiday in Cap D'Agde for the last two years. The first time we stayed outside the naturist village, the second time we stayed three nights in the Hotel Oz'Inn.

So about six months ago we decided to book a week in the naturist village during August. We found a small apartment on Airbnb and booked it. Then we booked flights and a transfer.

About a week ago we received a message from the owner saying they had sold the apartment, the new owner wanted those dates for himself so we are sending you a full refund. Any other holiday destination and this wouldn't be too much of a problem but at Cap D'Agde this is a disaster.

After a lengthy search it was clear there weren't a great deal of alternatives so I bought 7 nights in a tent at the campsite for £340 and broke the news to my wife that we would be camping.

After further research we decided to spend the last 3 of the 7 nights at Natureva Spa so a mix of camping and luxury. I've booked an extra case for the camping equipment and we actually enjoy camping so it should be quite an adventure!

You never know, this could turn out to be the best holiday ever.

It would be interesting to see when the owner first started the apartment as being fit sale and was he still actively marketing rental accommodation while attempting to sell it. If this was the case he should have delayed completion date to the end of the season.

Do airbnb allow owners to simply cancel accommodation . ?.

Yes Airbnb do allow this - but if it is done on a regular basis they throw you off. As they have sold the property they probably don't care about being kicked off. Your allowed to cancel 2/3 in a 12 month period. A good indicator is to read the reviews as sometimes you get someone post that they have been cancelled. It was common place in the early days but now it's not so common. What I can't understand is if your selling - don't rent, otherwise you sell and honour bookings - it does happen here!

Airbnb were very good a few years ago. We had 45 rentals via them - this year only 2. They have tightened up and the cancellation has probably cost the "owner" airbnb's fee and even expulsion. In the early days cancellations were common place - not so much now. If your going to sell -should you be renting? Unless your going to honour those bookings.

Seems to be a common way for vendors to make a flexible rental income while waiting to sell their property. I was recently looking at places to buy near Cabopino naturist beach. When I went to look at holiday accommodation in the area I recognised at least one of them as being for sale. I'd be royally pi@#$d off if that happened to me. Used AirBnB a few times, luckily with no problems so far.

Hi all,

I have a flat in the close suburbs of Paris (next to la défense). If any of you need somewhere to stay in Paris, it is well located (12 minutes to Paris center) and this a big 2 bedroom apartment. Do not hesitate to send me a pm if you want the link of the flat.

Cheers

I thought of expressing my displeasure in a message to the owner but in the end there's no point, stuff happens, move on.
