Edinburgh

I was there cycling a couple of years ago when the tour went through. We spent 4 days there proceeded by a couple at the base of the Telegraph. The cycling is great.

We actually stayed in alp d huez. Which was ok but meant I cycled up it a few times. Probably better to stay in Borg.

Don't forget to go the back way up to Alp d'huez via the col de la Serene. It's a much tougher and better climb.

North Lakes and Manchester

We go regularly en route to cap, always stay in bourg on the colporteur campsite in town, it also has a few chalets. have stayed at alp d'huez as well but very quiet and quite a few degrees cooler at night, especially in june.

Balconne d'auris is an awesome view if you have a head for heights but loads of good riding as well as the alp & sarenne

You can stay in Bourg, but don't dismiss Grenoble. It's an amazing city, not to be missed and only maybe 20kms or so from Alp D Huez
