"Just seen a tv programme BBC Rip off Britain - holidays. Worth watching on iPlayer. Basically it's a requirement in French law to have Public Liability insurance in France. If you have travel insurance it's usually included. But many just travel on the EHIC. The programme shows a family getting a bill for 500,000€ for fire damage!" The consequences of not having adequate cover are not worth thinking about . I insured the wrong address once as I have to ensure various properties and when I advised the insurer they took a very casual approach. I often wondered what would happen in the event of a claim . I never did receive any documentation for the correct address. As a result of this I stopped using an on line insurer and went back to using a broker . More worryingly I gave one someone advice on seeing a Doctor in Cap d Agde and they did not have any insurance cover and did not know what an EHIC card was . To compound the issue they were happy to travel abroad even though they had an ear infection . | |||
