Anyone idea of distances etc...could i pop over of an evening and see whats going on?

You could walk down the beach but as a single woman? Might he better getting a taxi to the main gate and getting a pass. The very nature of the place attracts some weirdos and we (as a couple) tend to avoid the beach at night. Others may disagree but we are very risk averse.

No second thoughts at all.

Interestingly though there is more security. I was stooped walking through Port Ambonne early one evening as MrsM was window shopping and I was catching up. They are checking for people who come along the beach into the village and there have been reports of break-ins to apartments.

Very good advice . I made the mistake two years ago of assuming it would be crime free. I went to watch some action on the beach any my bag was stolen.

It contained the keys of my apartment and a small amount of spending money .

I had to sleep the night on a cold floor outside my apartment and could not even buy a drink in the evening as I had no money.

The agent managing the apartment ( Peng Travel ) were excellent and simply swapped the locks without charging new .

I now keep anything of value in a belt bag at all times .

Bags have also been stolen in clubs .

Hopefully someone has warned you that it will be quiet and not all the clubs will be open.

Both supermarkets are closed . Sauna Hamman which is a sex club is open from 2 pm daily and a number of bars will be open. The Sauna is closed from 7 pm to 9 pm

The weekends will be mainly French locals .

Enjoy your break and hopefully that weekend will be sufficiently busy to keep you amused .

When I went in October wèekday nights were dead . Whilst I always believe in trying and not giving up , sometimes reality has to kick in . On the second night I did not even bother going out

I have just returned from my last trip of the season, I was surprised how busy the sauna was on Friday night, Glamour was rocking on Saturday night, and had a quick visit to the sauna on Sunday late afternoon when the rain clouds appeared, and again it was busy. I do however agree after visiting in late October the village is not at its best, the weather can be good with days on the beach but forget the nightlife...
