For me its got to be the lifestyle. I love the laid back attitude, and having a stronger focus on food and friends.

I dont think i would ever go back to the uk

London and France

Friendly helpful neighbours;

I love the fact that everyone in France is so polite, values that UK lost years ago.

The wine, food, art and culture, roads, countryside .

An outstanding Heath service.

I could never live in UK again.. ( mind you, I have not lived in UK much of my life....)

Chorley,

Well Renard, We think you have described france very well and totally agree with every word you have said. One thing could add to this is excellent fishing as well.

Probably all of the above, apart from the grenades....!

The pace of life suits us perfectly.

Part of that is down to us not having proper jobs, but most of our week is not planned until the last minute. Compared to our life in the UK, that's heaven.

We'd never say no to going back, because you don't know what life holds, but a return is not on our radar at the moment.

Yes, definitely the weather, the car free roads and the slow pace of life, especially in the country.

France is brilliant largely because of the French....

And one thing that tarnishes it slightly; is a handful of a certain type of Brit expat who are rude, slovenly and bad mannered.

We totally agree with this and relayed it many a time too, it's exactly why we'll retire there and holiday frequently until then.

Longer summers

fresh bread daily

not having to lock your car anytime

wine ,roads.

1950s / 60's values still count for something here .

20.6 miles or 33.1 km apparently. However, with the tides, considerably longer. Unless you are a 13 year old Syrian male( 29 year old from Libya), and caught a free trip on a Lorry.

After living in France for nearly 16years we know it is a far from perfect country (where is?) but we can afford a lifestyle here that we could never do in UK. Love the people, the countryside; the culture and most other things. Hate the beurocracy (sp?)
