Camping Le Diamant Noir - Review

We set out for a gentle tour of some of the libertine camp sites in France having thoroughly enjoyed La Roseraie last year.

We booked a Fri -Mon weekend (it is currently late may)

We were very lucky with weather as the day we arrived the temps hit the mid 30s!

Check in was a little challenging as our receptionist spoke no English and our French is mediocre but we were helped by a Belgian couple checking in. You sure given coloured wrist bands that both denote your “status” (couple, single etc) and allow you to pay for drinks and food. A deposit is taken at this point.

The camping area is gorgeous - ancient woodland with lots iOS shade. There is power and a clean shower / toilet block (no seats but plenty of loo roll - we have rarely found a french loo with both!)

The clients were mostly French, age range late 30s to late 60s. A few Dutch, Belgian etc.

The focus of the site is the pool. Clean and cool. Lots of sunbeds and a ring of double four poster beds around the edges. Sex is forbidden in the pool but we saw a LOT going on around, especially on the four posters.

By the pool is a bar / restaurant. Lunchtime snacks are served (burger and chips around a tenner). A range of beers (7-10 euro a pint) and wines (£2 a glass) are served.

In the evening a restaurant menu is served at around 20 euro a main course with the usual “Formule” for more than one course. Saturday evening was a party menu that needed reservations and sounded great fun as we heard the communal karaoke from our pitch.

Dotted around the site are camping for play and around the general pool area are clean, comfy beds in the woods, a small bdsm area, a larger tent and a well maintained exercise machine trail.

The nearby village has shops and restaurants and the area is stunning with main tourist attractions nearby.

We loved our few days here. So much we booked a week later in the year.

If any Brits fancy joining us last week of June you would not regret it!

It's simple. Get in your car, take the Channel Tunnel, and keep on driving until you get there.

But most swingers campsites don't allow single men.

Really disappointed at LDN. We have done three Libertine venues on our current trip and La Roseraie and Terre de Soleil are absolutely in another league to LDN. LDN has Small and poorly maintained pitches, the site was dirty and dusty and gave us a feeling that the main objective was to make money and not to provide a quality, pleasurable experience.

We did see a staff member cleaning the playmats, he then went to do the same with the sinks for dishes - no gloves and no change of cloths….

Dutch couples shared our opinion (and then some), and if you get offered pitch 1 it is a tiny triangle next to the bins - no one stayed on it for more than 1 night - it really shouldn’t be a pitch at all….

In summary, the worst libertine venue we have visited and pretty high on our list of truly awful campsites!

La Roseraie cannot be faulted, Terre de Soleil equally good but a naturist site with only a small (but lovely) secluded ‘play’ wood.

Many thanks for the report on Diamanté Noir, we were due to go in a two weeks so with your information we will give it a miss. It’s a shame as it’s only 30 minutes from our home, just never got around to going. After your glowing report of La Roseraie I think we shall head there instead before the season ends.

Hopefully our post was taken in the constructively critical vein it was intended to be and has been helpful. La Roseraie is very well run, spotlessly clean and we could not fault it, LDN ticked none of those boxes. We chuckled at the app they pushed visitors to use, there was no phone signal and almost none existent WiFi! A big issue for some Dutch caravan owners was that fluctuation voltage and power interruptions, their Dometic aircon units wouldn’t work - ours (Truma) only worked on the slowest speed. In our second week at Terre de Soleil, now trying to pick here or La Roseraie for our next visit….

We think it’s great that people put reviews up regarding places like Diamante Noir as we hope that someone will pass the message onto the owners. But more so for people who are planning a trip. Once we have been to La Roseraire we will also do an in depth review and hopefully helpful for future visitors.
